(Click on title above to hear recording) Recording Description: The Goodwins were well known in their day for strong manifestations of the Holy Spirit, accompanied by appropriate spiritual order. And in operating in such spiritual power and order, they were simply not tempted to embrace every spiritual fad and gimmick that came along. In our day, so many Charismatic Christians swallow hook, line, and sinker every bit of nonsense that comes along. Millions of dollars worth of books and tapes are sold, studied, embraced, and emulated for years before anyone stops and says, "Wait a minute! This teaching actually isn't scriptural. In fact, the Scriptures flatly refute this new teaching!" God help us. In this message, Brother Goodwin boldly confronts some spiritual nonsense that was being taught in some Spirit-filled churches at the time. He and Sister Goodwin, had had many visions of angels over the years. But they flatly rebuked some of the teachings about angels that was popular then, and that are still being taught in some churches today. The Goodwins had been successful and had prospered financially over the years, but in this message he sternly rebukes the over-emphasis on money that was present then and now. Although Sister Goodwin was a prophet, and outstanding prophets of the day--Kenneth Hagin and Howard Carter--had ministered at the Goodwins' church, and they fully believed in the prophet's ministry, Brother Goodwin never-the-less issues a very stern warning about following prophets who claim to get their doctrines from visions and visitations from angels. Every Spirit-filled minister, and every serious Spirit-filled Christian that seeks to flow in the genuine move of God in a balanced and scriptural manner, should listen to this recording, take to heart these warnings, and give earnest heed to the corrections Brother Goodwin gives in this message. He speaks from years of Bible study and personal experience with the Spirit of God. Although this message was preached in 1963, it is as timely as though it were preached yesterday.
