Special Request From Brother Mel: The Lord is leading me to return to pastoral ministry. Here's how you can help. | Hello Visitors, Partners, and Friends,
I believe the leading of the Lord is for me to continue the work of this website, touching thousands of hearts around the world with these articles and rare recordings. However, I also see the need to return to pastoring where I can apply these truths within the local church in a practical and continuing manner. God has prepared the hearts of the people somewhere, giving them the desire for the kind of ministry and balance I received from the Goodwins. It is just a matter of connecting with that specific congregation. I'm asking for your help in this connecting process. Please help me by doing the following: One, please pray for the Lord to connect me with the right position and situation. Some Charismatics and Word of Faith people are awakening, seeing past the gimmicks and extremes, and are moving on with God. Those are the ones I need to find. Two, if you are aware of an available pastor's position in a church that shares my vision, and desires the kind of flow that God uses me in, please pass my information along to them. I have posted my resume below. Please pray and share it with others as you believe the Lord leads you. You can share this resume and link with others by copying and pasting the following link: Mel C. Met Mrs. J. R. Goodwin (affectionately known in Pentecostal/Charismatic circles as Mom Goodwin). She and her husband (Dad Goodwin) had sat in Smith Wigglesworth’s meetings and were greatly influenced. Their own ministry came to maturity in the early Pentecostal movement. The Goodwins mentored or ministered to: Kenneth Hagin Sr., John Osteen, and other individuals who later developed into national Charismatic leaders with world-wide ministries.
In her final years, Mom Goodwin shared with me the principles that she and her husband had applied at their church that had made it, as Kenneth Hagin Sr., wrote, "The most Spirit-filled and the most decent and orderly church I've ever seen." Howard Carter said of the Goodwin’s church, “It is the greatest move of the Spirit I’ve seen world-wide, along with the greatest order.” From the Goodwins I learned that genuine anointing and correct scriptural order go hand in hand. She remained my mentor and friend until her passing in 1994. I'm honored to feature the recordings of Brother and Sister Goodwin on my website www.bothermel.com.

1996 – Present Missouri Southern State University, Joplin, MO Physical Plant Employee
Having always been an entrepreneur or employed in management positions in small to medium sized companies within the private sector, it was a major adjustment for me to accept a blue collar job at a state-funded University. But I see God's wisdom in this. In this position I have learned how to communicate with, and to understand the challenges of, people in all levels of authority from custodians, painters, and yard crew workers, to faculty members, department heads, and administrators. I've seen also that poor communication with staff can lead to low morale, confusion, and can waste an organization’s greatest asset--its people.
1993 – 1996 Itinerant Ministry, Chetopa, KS Evangelist/Teacher
Relocating to a small SE Kansas town and itinerating was a welcome change of pace from living in my hometown of Wichita, KS (population 500,000+). But it was also an eye-opening lesson in human nature and the heavy yoke of religious traditions. 1990 - 1993 Gourmet 500, Wichita, KS Office Manager
Working closely with another entrepreneur to take concepts for business products and services from the drawing board to the market place renewed in me a fresh appreciation for the power of innovation. At Gourmet 500, I saw on an almost daily basis that when we think creatively and work diligently, "all things are possible to him that believeth." Principles of creativity, hard work, and innovation I learned in this position have served me well in creating and expanding a large and influential website that in less than two years has ministered to over 50,000 people in 70 countries. 1979 - 1990 Wichita Building Maintenance, Wichita, KS Owner/Entrepreneur
Being an entrepreneur taught me to push beyond perceived limits, and to see opportunities where others saw only problems. Employing a team of five people developed in me an understanding of solid leadership principles. Soliciting new accounts, along with frequent participation in Wichita Area Chamber of Commerce events, gave me added confidence in communicating with businessmen. 1978 - 1979 Duo-Fast Midwest, Wichita, KS Office Manager
Creating and implementing systems to organize the filing, parts, and warehouse tracking systems in this newly opened office gave me an appreciation for order, checks and balances, and accountability.
1978 - 1979 Printing, Inc. Wichita, KS Phototypesetter and proofreader.
I was not saved when I worked here, yet this job has proven to be like a divine appointment. The benefits I received from working on this job continue to contribute, even today, to my ministry. For example, the editing and visual presentation skills I gained here have been invaluable to me. The application of these acquired skills can be seen in many of the articles I have written for publication, the proofreading I have done for my own writings as well as editing, proofreading, etc., for other authors. Important applications of the skills learned on this job can be seen in the creating and maintaining of my official website: www.brothermel.com. Education:
1978 - 1979 Wichita State University, Wichita, KS. Pursued a Bachelors Degree in Political Science.
I had not accepted Christ yet when I was attending WSU. I just knew I had a burning desire within me to "stand up before crowds of people and tell them the truth," as I described it at the time. Poltics was the only profession I could imagine in which I could speak to crowds of people. Having been raised in a moral home, but not a Christian one, I certainly never imagined myself as a minister of the Gospel. However, the deeper I studied politics, the more I discovered that political intricacies did not satisfiy the the yearning that was in me, so I ceased secular studies at this University. A year later I found Christ as my savior through watching Christian TV. A year after that, this "yearning" was revealed to me from the Lord as a call to preach His Gospel. I never again desired any further secular education. I desired only to know Him, His Gospel, and His Spirit better. I have never ceased learning of Him and studying His word and the ways of His Spirit. 1977 - 1978 Central Business College, Wichita, KS. Completed a one-year Administrative Management Course.
Central Business College provided an intense "total immersion" experience in one area only: Business Administration. Courses included a heavy emphasis on: Accounting Principles, Personel Management, Advertising, Sales, Business Law, Income Taxes, and other specifically targeted areas designed to prepare a businessman for all aspects of business management. While there, I served for a year on two committees of the Wichita Area Chamber of Commerce as the student representative for Central Business College. Attending Central Business College proved to be a wise decision. I have found the education I received there to be more than sufficient for the practical areas of business and ministry into which the Lord later brought me.
1977 Graduated from East High School, Wichita, KS.
Examples of My Ministry:
“God's True Laws of Financial Prosperity”
Examples of the Rare Recordings I Host on My Website: Rev. Howard Carter London, England
Lester Sumrall said of his friend Howard Carter, "He was a man of who the world was not worthy." Howard Carter's daughter and son-in-law, Cameron and Marvel Wilson, have given me their blessing to host Brother Carter's recordings on my website. Born in England in 1891, Carter was filled with the Spirit in 1919. His book, "Questions and Answers on Spiritual Gifts," set the Christian church world aflame with fresh and clear teachings on the gifts of the Holy Spirit. He helped found the AOG of England, and he chaired meetings at which his friend, Smith Wigglesworth preached. I host the recordings of Carter preaching at the Goodwins' church, Bill Britton's church, and also one from his ministry in England. Here is a link to one of Carter's sermons featured on my website:
Rev. Stanley Frodsham England
Stanley Frodsham, born in England in 1892, became an early Pentecostal giant. Filled with the Spirit before 1920, he helped to found the AOG in England. Frodsham's relationship with Smith Wigglesworth was a close one. Wigglesworth performed Frodsham's wedding, and Frodsham wrote the first biography of Wigglesworth. Frodsham was affectionately called God's "Prophet with a Pen," because of his numerous insightful writings. Before the Britton family gave me this recording, no recordings were known to exist of Brother Frodsham. The Frodsham family has given their blessing to me hosting this recording treasure on my website. In his last letter to his daughter Faith Campbell, Frodsham wrote, "Make much of the word of God, make much of the Blood, and make much of the shortness of time." Here is a link to his sermon: Rev. and Mrs. J.R. Goodwin United States
Dr. Charles Goodwin, and others close to the Goodwins asked me to host on my website the collection of recordings made at the Goodwins' church. Truly, every service in which the Goodwins ministered was a lesson in preaching sound doctrine, and in allowing the Holy Spirit to move while keeping everything within the boundaries of scriptural order. Here is a link to one of these Goodwin recordings entitled: References: Letter from Dr. Charles Goodwin Retired Professor of New Testament Greek Luther Rice University in Atlanta, GA Letter from Rev.
