Sowing Seeds for a Reformation of

Charismatic and Word of Faith Christianity

Rev. Mel C. Montgomery, Editor

 August 2008 Issue

 Dear Ministry Partners and Friends,

As most of you know, the Lord has directed me to begin to address in a much more direct manner the areas in which we in the Word of Faith and Charismatic branches of Christianity have drifted off into error and problems.  I gave my subscribers the opportunity to unsubscribe from this newsletter if they disagreed with this change in ministry.  Out of the hundreds of ministers and other subscribers who regularly receive my e-mail newsletter, only one person unsubscribed.  I received instead numerous e-mails of support mostly from others who are in full-time ministry who have urged me to preach the truth without fear or favor, and so shall I do.  I thank you for all of your e-mails of support.  Many were lengthy and eloquent.  However, the one that moved my soul most deeply was from a Christian in Malaysia--a Moslem country--who sent me a two-sentence long e-mail which read:

"Go ahead.  Persecution is nothing new to me."

How quickly we forget that there is a price to pay sometimes to declare the word of God with boldness.

I will always endeavor to present a balanced message, that is written in a fair and redemptive tone.  But I will be more plainspoken than you are probably used to hearing.

Lakeland Revival:

The "Apostles" Were Wrong, But Moses Was Right

By Mel Montgomery

The truth about the Lakeland Revival is finally coming out.

A New Reformation Message:

     What is a Reformation Message?

A Reformation Message is tough love.  It is strong correction.  I grew up spiritually hearing strong corrections.  Being corrected in strong terms by God's word doesn't bother me one bit.  Sister Goodwin was loving, kind, and anointed, but anyone who knew her well at all will tell you that she didn't hesitate one minute in giving you a sharp correction if she thought you needed it.  I received many sharp corrections from her over the years, that frankly bruised my feelings.  Don't misunderstand me.  Sister Goodwin never treated me with discourtesy in any way.  But she loved me enough to rebuke the living daylights out of me sometimes.  And thank God she did!   After my bruised feelings healed, and I realized the wisdom Sister Goodwin was giving me, I received her corrections, and those corrections changed my life.  Those stunning rebukes woke me up out of my Charismatic fog and saved me from great errors in ministry in later years.  I am convinced that the prophet's anointing I walk in today is a direct result of having humbled myself by receiving strong corrections from a vessel of honor, namely, from Sister Goodwin.

As I shared with you, recenlty the Lord has stirred me in my spirit and made it clear to me in no uncertain terms that along with my regular teachings and recordings, I am to also speak out more boldly, more clearly, and with great frankness concerning the sin and error that has come into our midst in Word of Faith and Charismatic circles.

When I preach a Reformation Message, like this one, I am identifying an area in which we need to change.  I give it to you just as straight and just as blunt as I possibly can.  If you are thin-skinned, don't listen to these messages.  If you are spiritually mature enough to listen to this message, you will hear me preach with great passion.  Do not mistake passion for harshness or anger.  I am angry at no one.  But with all that is within me, I am sounding an alarm.  Any alarm is to be sounded in loud and unmistakeable terms, or it isn't an alarm.  In these kinds of messages I am exhorting you with an urgency which I believe is appropriate for this hour.

This message is divided into two parts:

Jude's Warning to Today's Church Part I

By Mel C. Montgomery

Jude's Warning to Today's Church Part II

By Mel C. Montgomery

A passage from the Epistle of Jude reads like today's newapaper, identifying the very errors and ministry problems that are so rampant in our day.  Jude warns us of things to come.  I urge everyone to receive Jude's warning.

New Audio Sermon:

"And Jesus Marvelled . . ."

By Mel C. Montgomery

Jesus marvelled only twice in his life:  once at great unbelief, and once at great faith.  Find out the components involved in what the Lord called "Great Faith."

New Article:

"Becoming a Trumpet for the Lord"

By J. Lee Grady/ Charisma Magazine

In this excellent article, J. Lee Grady has picked up the heart-cry of many Christians today and lays down in this article six principles of genuine prophetic ministry.  All I can say in response is "Amen!"

A Closing Word:

Dear Ministry Partners and Friends,

     Thank you!

Thank you for all the e-mails offering your kind words of support.  Thank you for your prayers.  Thank you also for your financial support.

In all my nearly 30 years of being in the Charismatic and Word of Faith move, I have never seen more darkness, error, false teachings, false manifestations, and sin, and yet, I have never seen more ministers awakening out of their long slumber.  Many are seeing that you can't have revival without repentence.  And you can't have repentence if there is no such thing as right or wrong, truth or error, sound doctrine or false doctrine.  If it is all relative, all a matter of opinion, if it doesn't matter what you believe, just as long as you believe something, then how can you even identify what the Gospel actually is?  We are beginning to awaken to the fact that we can not just be for something and against nothing.  And some of you are telling me that the Lord is leading you also to speak out more boldly in confronting error and sin in our midst.

Many of you are coming to the same conclusion that I have reached:  We can not have true Revival without first having a Reformation.  We can not welcome the presence of the Holy Spirit into our midst and expect Him to stay and bless us when we preach and do things that grieve and insult Him.  I welcome the company.

Kind Regards,

Brother Mel
