Do We Have the God-Kind of Faith?

     The teaching known as "The God-Kind of Faith," has been in Word of Faith circles for many years. 

     It is hotly controversial. 

     I invited Dr. Charles Goodwin to examine this teaching with me and we have authored together an article focusing on this doctrine.  

     Dr. Goodwin is the son of Brother and Sister Goodwin whose tremendous recordings we feature on this website.  He is a retired professor of New Testament Greek.  With his background rooted in the Pentecostal move of God he experienced and witnessed in his parents' church, and his advanced theological training, he is uniquely qualified to sort through the controversy surrounding this teaching and give us a clear answer from the Greek as to what the Bible says about the God-Kind of faith.  

     As we worked on this article together over the course of several weeks, I grew to have an even greater appreciation for the integrity of Dr. Goodwin.  He has a profound love for the word of God, and an equal love for the people of God.  He is at home among both Charismatics and Evangelicals, and has no bias towards anyone.  He has approached this task without fear or favor bringing to us, in a precise and clear manner, the meaning of the original Greek assisted by a thorough understanding of orthodox theology.

    This isn't a slap-dash document full of personal opinions and  questionable research.  As you will see, we examine this subject thoroughly, with Dr. Goodwin providing quotations directly from the Greek, drawing also from various reference books and providing the citations.  We have produced an abbreviated (short) version of this document and an extended version also.    

     I believe if you will approach this document in a prayerful and thoughtful manner, thinking deeply on the truths Dr. Goodwin shares with us in response to questions I presented to him, you will come away with your eyes opened to the subject of faith in a fresh and deep way.
