Recording Description:
Recorded at Glenwood Memorial Chapel, Longview, Texas on February 22, 1978.
As you will see from this recording, Brother Goodwin did not always agree with Brother Hagin and typical Word of Faith teachings on some subjects. As soon as one finds this out, one can be tempted to just turn Brother Goodwin off--and that would be a mistake. No man should be just ignored, whom God used as mightily as He did Brother Goodwin. I would urge you to listen to this recording, and think deeply on the arguments that Brother Goodwin presents. I would readily agree that Brother Goodwin's arguments have strong Scriptural support.
Respectfully to both gentlemen, I come down somewhere between them. I think we have more ability to directly bind the Devil than Brother Goodwin believes, but I believe we have less unconditional ability than Brother Hagin taught. Listen to this recording, study out the issue, and allow the Lord to direct you concerning this concept of binding the Devil.
Brother Goodwin argues that we bind the devil in an indirect manner, and Brother Hagin believed we can bind the Devil in a very direct manner. There is certainly nothing to stop us from applying both principles, and binding the Devil both indirectly and directly.
