Biography of Rev. Mel C. Montgomery  I was born-again in 1980 through watching the a Charismatic TV program, and began attending a local Baptist Church. With time, I moved my membership over to a Charismatic church. Kenneth Copeland came to town and held a series of meetings that further opened my understanding to what God wants for us. And in the course of time, I met Sister Goodwin through Brother Copeland's ministry. This proved to be an even more eye-opening experience. Sister Goodwin and her husband had witnessed Smith Wigglesworth's ministry, learned from and ministered with the Pentecostal giant Howard Carter. And in turn, the Goodwins had taught Kenneth Hagin Sr. about spiritual gifts, and Brother Hagin had patterned his prophetic ministry after the example set by Mom Goodwin. Additionally, the Goodwins had taught or ministered to Kenneth Copeland, Oral Roberts, Norvel Hayes, John Osteen, Billye Brim, Marilyn Hickey, Don and Beverly Davis, and also, me. After sitting under Mom Goodwin's instruction for several years, she laid her hands on me and asked God to begin using me in the gifts of the Spirit. And much to my surprise, He began doing just that. I began to be used similarly to the way Sister Goodwin was used, in tongues, interpretation, and in acting out the message. It started out small, and grew greater in intensity over the years. Since then (1989) I have flowed in what I believe to be the prophet's anointing, doing so mostly in whatever was my home church at the time first in my hometown of Wichita, KS, then for several years in SE Kansas where I moved, and more recently in Joplin, Missouri where I now reside. I am honored to be ordained through Faith Fellowship Church Ministries of Tulsa, Oklahoma. It's President, Elizabeth Pruitt-Sloan, and her husband Roger, know me well and I am submitted to their advice and correction. At my ordination, Jack Coe Jr. said to me that God showed to him that "blind eyes will open through your ministry, and I see you going to foreign countries. I see leaders from foreign countries seeking you out and asking you to come." Praise the Lord. I am blessed beyond measure to see the response to my website. As of this writing, in its year we had over 130,000 hits from people in 67 different countries. We are sowing precious seed into many lives. I am holding meetings wherever I am invited to do so, in which I minister sound teachings on spiritual gifting, as taught and exemplified by the Goodwins and Brother Hagin, and in which God has used me. I believe I am gifted in helping churches to understand how a pastor and a congregation can mutually flow in the Spirit together without getting off into excesses and while continuing to remain within scriptural boundaries. Also, although I am Charismatic and consider myself to be a "Word of Faith" person, I recognize that we have strayed far from out traditional roots. Even though it is indeed God's will for us to prosper and be in health, it is equally His desire for us to bear good fruit in the area of character, integrity, humility, unselfishness, reaching the lost, and by being good parents, spouses, employees, and faithful members of the local church. I believe that God is using me to help return us to our roots, to rediscover the power of the Holy Spirit, and to correct some of the extreme teachings that have cropped up in our circles in the last number of years.
